At CDL, we view our role as more than just a builder of living spaces, but also a developer of lives and communities.

Over the years, our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has gradually evolved from a traditional emphasis on philanthropy to a strategic focus on key stakeholders and innovation.

Since 1995, CDL has adopted our ethos of "Conserving as we Construct" and remodelled our operations to achieve a more balanced triple bottom line in financial, environmental and social performance.

2015: Celebrating 20 Years of CSR Excellence
CDL's CSR journey has progressed by leaps and bounds over the past 20 years, pioneering visionary approaches, championing ground breaking innovations and setting new sustainability benchmarks. At the same time, we continue to share our successes by giving back to the community, with a greater focus on youth development, support for the underprivileged, arts and environmental conservation.

Create Future Value
Moving forward, the next phase of CDL's CSR journey will be to "Create Future Value" for generations to come, building on our ethos of "Conserving as we Construct". By harnessing our capitals, we strive to complement Singapore’s vision of a clean, green, sustainable and smart nation.

To be a responsible corporate citizen who believes in creating value for stakeholders, conducting sustainable business practices, caring for the community and protecting the environment.

CSR Journey
CDL is fully committed to sustaining our efforts, elevating our standards and practices and exploring innovative ways to reach new levels of excellence in CSR.
 
With a firm belief in the importance of engagement with the community, we have been responsive to the needs of the community by working closely with government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). We collaborate with various organisations to promote CSR and have been a founding committee member of Singapore Compact for CSR since its inception in 2005. Singapore Compact functions as a national society advocating CSR among the business community through awareness dialogues and workshops.
 
For our efforts, we are proud to be the first Singapore corporation to be listed on all three of the world’s top sustainability benchmarks: FTSE4Good Index Series (since 2002), the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World (six consecutive years since 2010) and the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (World & Asia Pacific – since 2011). We are also listed in the Global Compact 100 Index, Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark, MSCI ESG Indices, Euronext Vigeo – World 120, Ethibel EXCELLENCE Investment Register and STOXX® Global ESG Leaders Indices.

Commitment to Stakeholders
Building trust, credibility and respect amongst stakeholders is CDL's utmost priority and our mission statement is testament to the importance we place on our key stakeholder groups.

For years, we have been proactively engaging the community in CSR, and we are heartened to see increased interest and acceptance from our business peers, cognisant of the need to address more than just their financial performance.

In identifying stakeholders, we are guided not only by our Corporate Mission and our CSR objectives, but also by global standards for sustainable management. We also take into consideration the relevance of stakeholder groups to our core business.

CDL aspires to make a positive impact in the communities in which we operate. To do this, we embrace sustainable and mutually beneficial partnerships that may be measured tangibly and intangibly.
