In 2017, City Developments Limited (CDL) designed and built the Singapore Sustainability Academy (SSA), a 4,300-square-foot facility located on the roof terrace of Singapore’s first eco-mall, City Square Mall.
The Academy was established to advance climate action and collaboration and serves as the home of the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore.
Since its opening, the facility has hosted over 1,000 events and training sessions, welcomed more than 35,000 visitors, and engaged with over 100 partners. You can read our full SSA story here.
Inspired by the SSA’s impact in catalysing a greener future, we launched the SSA Annex in July 2024, adding 2,690 square feet of eco-friendly space.
Like the SSA, the Annex also showcases sustainability, being constructed with mass-engineered timber from sustainably managed forests and fully powered by a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System.

Other green touches include a 5-tick split-unit solar hybrid aircon system, carpet flooring with up to 66% recycled content, and recycled chopsticks repurposed into design features.
Little wonder it has achieved BCA’s Green Mark Platinum certification.
The SSA Annex also houses the Singapore chapter of the United Nations Global Compact Network, a leading voice on corporate sustainability, and offers a collaborative space and conference room.
Together, the SSA and its Annex occupy just under 7,000 square feet atop City Square Mall and is a vital hub for cultivating a sustainable Singapore for generations to come.
